Pamela Clarkson is not a native Texan, but she
got here as quick as she could.
She was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, but was soon traveling
the world with her military family.
Her childhood was spent in Korea, Puerto Rico, Iran and Taiwan.
She came back to New Mexico
long enough to graduate from the University of New Mexico at
Albuquerque with a degree in
Secondary Art Education, but marriage to a military officer
sent her traveling once more.
Thailand, Turkey and the Philippines were home as well as Utah,
California, Texas, North Carolina,
Hawaii and Washington DC. Pamela celebrated every location with
her art work. She painted and
drew the people and the flavors of each locale. These paintings
were happily collected by many of
her military peers. She does still life and landscape as well
as figures. She also does portraits in
pencil. Pamela works with the lines , shapes, and colors of
her subject matter, loving the process
of transforming something ordinary like a piece of fruit or
a field of lavender into something called "art".
